Do Indians need a visa for Thailand?
Indian citizens do not need a visa to visit Thailand. Still, as of May 1, 2025, the Thailand Digital Arrival Card (TDAC) is mandatory for all Indian travellers entering Thailand and must be completed online before arrival.​      
What are the Thailand Digital Arrival Card requirements for Indians?
Here are the Thailand Digital Arrival Card requirements for Indians:​

  1. Passport (with validity, not less than 6 months)
  2. Flight or travel details
  3. Accomodation details
Do Indians need travel insurance to enter Thailand?
No, travel insurance is not mandatory for Indian travellers entering Thailand. 
  • Note: It is generally good to have travel insurance when travelling abroad, as it protects against any unforeseen travel or medical-related financial emergencies.
Do Indians need hotel reservations when travelling to Thailand?
Yes, when travelling to Thailand, proof of accommodation, such as hotel bookings or a letter of invitation, is mandatory. 
Can Indians extend their visa-free stay in Thailand beyond 90 days?
Yes, Indians can easily extend their visa-free stay by 30 days. You must apply for the extension at a local Thai immigration office before your initial 90-day stay expires.
What happens if I overstay in Thailand?

Overstaying in Thailand is a legal violation, and you will be fined a minimum of ₹1,260 per day, which is capped at ₹50,240.* Overstays exceeding 90 days may result in deportation and blacklisting from future travel to Thailand.

  • * Note: The overstay fine is calculated in Thai Baht, so the exact amount in Indian Rupees may vary based on the exchange rate at the time of payment.

Can I work in Thailand during my visa-free stay?
No, working in Thailand without a valid work permit is illegal, even under the Visa Exemption Program. If you plan to work, you must obtain a Non-Immigrant B visa before travelling to the country.
Do Indians need a visa to Thailand for purposes other than tourism (e.g., work, study)?
Indians planning to work, study, or do business in Thailand must apply for the appropriate Non-Immigrant visa before travelling. This requires submitting extra documentation, such as sponsorship letters, contracts, or enrollment letters (depending on the purpose of your visit) at the embassy. 

  • Note: For urgent or ad-hoc work in Thailand under the visa-free regime (such as organizing a workshop, giving a lecture, or filming a movie), you only need to notify the registrar at an airport or local immigration office. The work must be completed within 15 days.
Do Indians need a transit visa to pass through Thailand?
No, if your layover is less than 12 hours and you stay within the international transit area without clearing immigration, you do not need a transit visa. However, if your layover exceeds 12 hours or you plan to leave the transit area, you must obtain the appropriate visa or fill out the TDAC accordingly. 
What happens if I forget to complete the TDAC before arrival?
Failing to submit the TDAC in advance may cause delays at immigration and could result in denied entry. It’s strongly advised to complete it before you travel.
Do children need to fill out a separate TDAC?
Yes. A separate TDAC must be completed for each traveller, including children.
Can I modify, if I make mistakes in TDAC application details?
Once submitted, certain key information cannot be updated, including:

  • Full Name (as it appears in passport)
  • Passport Number
  • Nationality/Citizenship
  • Date of Birth
If you need to modify these details, you may need to submit a new TDAC application.
What is the Validity and Length of Stay for TDAC?
The validity and Length of stay in Thailand for Indians for a single entry are as follows:

  • Validity: 90 days,
  • Length of stay: 90 days.
What is the eligibility criteria for TDAC?
All Indians entering Thailand are required to submit the Thailand Digital Arrival Card before their arrival.
The following ones are exceptions:
  • Indians transiting or transferring in Thailand without going through immigration control
  • Indians entering Thailand using a Border Pass
